(2) whether a record has been kept of the money spent on the Aristide family, staff and entourage since their arrival in South Africa; if not, why not; if so, what has been the total cost to the taxpayer of hosting the Aristides since the arrival of the Aristide family in South Africa up to the latest specified date for which information is available.

REPLY:

1. Having taken a decision to host President Aristide, the South African Government has used
resources and facilities already at its disposal. It is, therefore, not possible to provide an
accurate costing of the money spent on the Aristide family.

2. Furthermore, President Aristide has not travelled outside South Africa since arrival, nor has he to date travelled any significant distance from his area of residence.
