IN INTERNAL QUESTION PAPER NO 14 OF 20 MAY 2005 Mrs S M Camerer (DA) to
ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs:
(a) How many days' leave since 1 January
2004 did Mr Mo Shaik apply for to be able to regularly attend the trial of his
brother Mr Schabir Shaik at the Durban High Court and (b) what are the
details of his approved leave, such as (i) the reasons therefor, (ii) the type
of leave granted and (iii) the dates on which leave was (aa) applied for and (bb)
granted? N911E REPLY:
(a) Seventy eight (78) days of
leave were utilised by Mr Mo Shaik for the period 1 January 2004 to date. This
period includes both sick leave and vacation leave. Management granted vacation
leave to Mr Mo Shaik after due consideration to operational requirements and the
fact that he had leave days available to him. (b) The schedule below illustrates
the details of approved leave (i) reasons (ii) type of leave (iii) dates on which
leave was (aa) applied for and (bb) approved. Leave
