Status with regard to the Investigation into the Conduct of an Official in the Department of Foreign Affairs

Mr D H M Gibson (DA) to ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs:

(1) With regard to the investigation into the conduct of a certain person (details furnished), (a) what has been the total cost to date of (i) the investigation and (ii) the labour hearing, (b) (i) what is the current status of this case and (ii) by when is it expected to conclude and (c) what are the reasons for there being no settlement in this case to date?

(2) whether she will make a statement confirming that the said person's character and integrity was unjustly damaged; if not, what is the position in this regard?

(3) whether an investigation will be conducted to determine whether any form of conspiracy against the said person has occurred; if not, why not; if so, when will it be conducted? N2205E

REPLY:

(1)(a) Since the matter has been referred to arbitration at the General Public Service Sectoral Bargaining Council and is still pending, the Department is unable at this stage to give an accurate indication of the total costs incurred to date.
