REPLY:

With reference to her reply to question 555 on 6 November 2006, it was indicated that:

(1) None. However there are two (2) Deputy Directors-General who were occupying the approved posts at Head Office and they are currently serving in Missions at the level of Chief Director".
(a) The two positions of Deputy Director-General which are on the approved structure at Head Office are in-deed required.
(b) The incumbents are currently not occupying the posts of approved Deputy Director-General at Head Office. When the incumbents were deployed to serve in Missions they were relocated to the approved structure of the Missions.

(2) There are Chief Directors capable of occupying Mission posts. Individual's capabilities are considered and matched with the required needs of the Mission.

(3) Yes. One of the positions is filled by a Deputy Director-General and the other position is still vacant, but currently a Chief Director is acting in that position.

(4) Yes. The one position as indicated above, the incumbent has been acting since April 2006.

(5) It is in accordance with the Public Service Regulations.
