Mr A J Leon (DA) to ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs:
Whether any function was organised to mark the occasion of the delivery of her vote in the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces in 2007; if so, (a) what total amount was spent on this function, (b) from which budget was the money allocated, (c) what amount was spent on (i) food and refreshments, (ii) venue, (iii) entertainment, (iv) staff and (v) transport and (d) how many persons were invited to attend this function? REPLY:
Yes, two functions were organized. The lunch on the 29 May 2007 and the SABC Africa morning coverage breakfast on the 30 May 2007.
- The total amount spent on the lunch was R35 106.08 and for SABC Africa morning breakfast was R25 245.00
- The funds were included in the 2007/08 voted funds budget.
- (i) Food – R18 700.00 and refreshments R2 076.08
(ii) Venue all inclusive with catering costs
(ii) Entertainment R4 500.00
(iv) Staff R351 547.52 accommodation
(v) Transport R160 491.70
- The number of guests invited were confirmed at 150 from different sectors
