SADC Facilitator, Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa arrives in Maseru ahead of Consultations

Maseru - SADC Facilitator and South African Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa arrived on his seventh visit in Maseru on Wednesday 5 November 2014 ahead of scheduled consultative meetings with key stakeholders in the Kingdom of Lesotho on Thursday, 06 November 2014, as part of regional efforts to consolidate peace and security in the country.

The visit by Deputy President Ramaphosa follows the recent signing of the Maseru Facilitation Declaration and the Maseru Security Accord which laid a basis for the resolution of the political and security challenges facing the Kingdom of Lesotho.

During his current visit, the Facilitator, Deputy President Ramaphosa will on Thursday 6 November 2014 among other key stakeholders pay a courtesy call on His Majesty King Letsie III, hold meetings with Prime Minister Tom Thabane, Deputy Prime Minister Mothejoa Metsing, the Speaker of Lesotho's parliament Sephiri Motanyane, Deputy Speaker Adv. Lekhetho Rakuoane and the EU Ambassador Michaele Doyle.

The Facilitator, Deputy President Ramaphosa continues to be supported in his regional facilitation efforts by a team of SADC experts and members of the SADC secretariat led by SADC Deputy Executive Secretary Dr. Thabang Mhlongo. These are members from SADC states of Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and South Africa

The Facilitator, Deputy President Ramaphosa is expected to return to South Africa later on Thursday 6 November 2014
