MR F ADAMS (ANC-WC) TO ASK THE MINISTER OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND COOPERATION:
(1) Whether her department has made any progress to comply with Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS) by providing security for personnel, building, assets and classified information against risks in all areas; if not, (a) why not and (b) what measures are in place to ensure that full compliance is achieved; if so, (i) what progress has been made and (ii) what are the further relevant details?
REPLY:
(a) Yes.
The Department has made progress towards compliance with the Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS)
(b) The Department of International Relation and Cooperation (DIRCO) through its Directorate: Security has implemented various measures to comply with the Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS), these include:
Access Control: All DIRCO officials identification access cards to gain access into DIRCO premises and visitors are issued with visitors access cards after capturing their particulars are recorded the computer system, Security searches: DIRCO Security Officers conduct searches at the entrances using X-ray machines and metal detectors to detect prohibited items and Security awareness programme to sensitise DIRCO officials about the importance of complying with security measures is conducted on a regular basis.
