 VISITORS  VISAS
 
 Who qualifies for this Visa
 
 A visa may be issued to foreigners who  wish to enter South Africa for holiday (tourism), to visit family and friends,  attend busines meetings/ negotiations/ workshops/ seminars/ conferences. A visa  may also be issued to attend study courses or attend training for a period less  than three months. Only certain countries require a visa for South Africa. The  countries listed in Visa Exemption List* do not need a visa (subject to  the conditions indicated) for South Africa.
 If a country nationality is not listed in  the Visa Exemption List, then a visa is required.
 
 THE PROCESSING PERIOD FOR VISA  APPLICATIONS IS 4 (FOUR) WORKING DAYS 
                        requirements
 
                          
                            Visa applications  form BI-84  dually completed with black  ink.
 
Passport must be valid for no less than  30 days after the expiry of intended visit to South Africa. The passport must  have at least two blank visa pages one to endorse the visa and one for entry and  exit stamps.  
 
The original passport + one copy of all  relevant pages must be submitted.  
                          Original  passport cannot be retrieved until the visa application has been processed. 
                           
                            Important information regarding visas2 X passport size photographs 35x45mm not older than 6 months. 
 
A vaccination certificate, if required by  the Act. 
 
A yellow fever certificate is required only if an applicant  is coming from or going through a yellow fever endemic zone. Clients who are  going straight to South Africa from Dubai and who have not been in a yellow  fever zone recently, are not required to fulfill any additional health  requirement. 
 
Proof of financial means in the form of:
 - Applicant’s latest 3 months’ bank statements
 - Undertaking(s)/Invitations(s) by the host in South Africa
 - Original No-Objection certificate from current employer in  UAE.
 - Proof of bursaries
 - Proof of medical cover, or
 - Travellers’ cheques to cover envisaged living expenses  during the sojourn in South Africa.
 
 
Applicants travelling by air must be in  possession of a provisional return or onward flight booking. No fixed travel  arrangements should be made prior to the issuing of the visa.
 
If a minor child subject to guardianship  or custody is accompanying the applicant or joining the applicant in South  Africa, then proof of guardianship and custody is required.
 
In the case of an unaccompanied minor,  consent from the guardian is required.
 
Statement and/or documentation confirming  purpose and duration of visit.
 
For business visits (meetings,  negotiations, workshops, seminars, conferences and training) letters from both  the UAE and the South African host company/organization should be submitted.  The letters should confirm the nature and duration of the visit.
 
A provisional hotel booking or travel  itinerary must be presented.
 
For family visits, an invitation letter  from the South African host (with full contact details and copy of South  African ID) must be presented.
 
For all types of  visits, adequate documentation must be produced which confirms the nature of  the visit and the duration of the visit.
 
A cash deposit may be requested from  applicants. 
                             TRANSIT  VISA
                           
                          Who qualifies for this VisaOnly applicants with valid UAE residency permits  can apply through the South African Embassy & Consulate-General in the  U.A.E. 
 
For tourist/family visits, the applicant  MUST lodge the visa application in person. 
 
For business related visits, the  applicant or a delegated company Public Relations Officer may lodge the  application. No third party representatives may lodge visa application on  behalf of the main applicant. 
 
The visa shall upon admission, be  considered to be a permit for the purpose of the Act and the period of validity  of that permit shall be calculated from the date of admission.
 
The period for which a permit will be  valid will be set out under the heading” conditions” on the visa label. 
 
Applicants must ensure that they apply  for the correct visa/permit as any change in the purpose of stay may be refused  if the purpose of the original entry was not correctly stated. 
 
The  holder of a visitors permit may not conduct work.
 
The holder of a visitors permit may not  establish or operate a business. 
 
Visas cannot be applied for at a South  African port of entry (for example, an airport). 
 
Any applicant allowed entry into South  Africa due to misrepresentation, or false declaration on the application form  or who stays in South Africa in contravention of his/her visa/permit conditions  shall be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine or to  imprisonment as an illegal foreigner. 
 
After a visa is issued, the passport must  contain minimum one unused “visa” page for entry stamps. 
 
All documents requested for the visa  should be original and translated into English by a sworn translator if the  source document is in another language. Originals and copies must be presented,  originals will be returned (after inspection) to clients.  
 
                          Transit visas is required from all none  visa exempt nationals who are transiting through South Africa to a neighboring  country( Botswana, Mozambique, Swaziland, Lesotho, Namibia and Zimbabwe) or  returning from a neighboring country through South Africa. Foreign nationals  with long term residence (work permits/permanent residence) in the neighboring  countries who transit South Africa to return to their employment or residence  are not subject to the transit visa requirement, provided that they are in  possession of proof of the status. The countries listed in Visa Exemption List  do not need a visa (subject to the conditions indicated) for South Africa. If a  country nationality is not listed in the Visa Exemption List, then a visa is  required.
                          
                          PLEASE  NOTE YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO EXIT ANY SOUTH AFRICAN AIRPORT WITH A TRANSIT  VISA.
