Welcome message by the Head of Mission

Greetings

My name is, Mogobo David Magabe and the South African Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Non Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Yemen.

Allow me to acknowledge the privilege and honour entrusted on me as President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Diplomatic Envoy to strengthen bilateral and diplomatic relations between the government and people of South Africa, our gracious host the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud the King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Prime Minister and Minister of Defence and the great people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Bound by South Africa’s principles of Batho Pele, a Southern Sotho phrase that means putting People First, for the next four years I and the team here at the Embassy in Riyadh will work towards putting “people first” and in this regard we are committed to, strengthening the solid and friendly bilateral relations that my predecessors before me have built here in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

To our friends from all our areas of accreditation, I wish to convey to you that South Africa as a member of the Group of Twenty (G20) major economies and part of the BRICS group of countries with Brazil, Russia, India and China is committed to ensuring that the world comes out much stronger in the wake of the COVID-19 global pandemic.

From an economic diplomacy perspective we invite potential partners to invest in a market that boasts first class tourist attractions, incredible infrastructure, world class financial systems and services. We have a young and vibrant population, with many strategic resources, innovative minds and one of the most diversified economies all due to our integrated logistics and transport networks with Southern Africa and further afield in the continent. Please visit the Trade and Investment page for more information.

To our expatriate South African community we equally acknowledge that we are duty bound to offer you the most professional consular services available and in this regard, the team who deal with these matters will always stand ready to ensure that you and those of you who are here with your families are assisted in the most professional manner without compromising the integrity of our great constitution. We realise the valuable role that you play in your respective vocations and we rely on you to help us improve relations with our partners in your respective areas of influence.

Whilst we are not physically based in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Yemen we remain as committed to improving political and bilateral relations with these countries and our expatriate citizens living there.
Feel free to visit us here in Riyadh or to maintain contact with us through the details provided on this website, as well as through our other social media platforms.

Thank you

HE Mr Mogobo David Magabe
Head of Mission
