South African Passports

Applicants applying for first adult passport (i.e. applicants 16 years old or turning 16) must ALSO apply for an ID book along with the passport or before applying for the passport.

As per DHA Circular No. 1 of 2022 third party collection of PASSPORTS/TRAVEL DOCUMENTS is strictly prohibited. If applying for a passport within South Africa, the DHA Office where the application is lodged, cannot redirect the passport for dispatch to the Mission.

New Fees

The Minister of Home Affairs has amended the fees for South African passports and travel documents in terms of section 4(1)(e) of the South African Passports and Travel Documents Act No. 4 of 1994. The amended fees published in Government Gazette No. 47256 on 06 October 2022 will come into operation on 1 November 2022.

As per Immigration Directive NO. 13 of 2019:

 

EXEMPTION FROM PORT OF ENTRY VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR ORDINARY PASSPORT HOLDERS OF NEW ZEALAND:

 

The Government of the Republic of South Africa has decided to unilaterally exempt ordinary passport holders from New Zealand from the requirements to be in possession of port of entry visas for a period of ninety (90) days for holiday and business visits. Effectively from 15 August 2019.

 

Long term visa application still need to be submitted to the VFS offices: Either in Wellington or Auckland.

Credit Cards are not acceptable!

All applications for South African passports from New Zealand must be applied for at the South African High Commission in Wellington.

However, please note that all applications are forwarded to Pretoria and may take between 6-12 months to finalise.
