Deputy President's Zuma's Itinerary
at the Third African Development Forum, Addis Ababa
Deputy President Jacob Zuma arrived in Addis Ababa,
Ethiopia, early this morning for a two-day working visit
to attend the Third African Development Forum (ADF).
Included in the Deputy President's delegation are:
-
* The Minister of Transport, Dullah Omar
* Deputy Minister of Finance Mandisi Mpahlwa
* Economic Advisor in The Presidency, Prof Wiseman Nkuhlu.
The ADF is an initiative led by the United Nations
Economic Commission for Africa, with the aim of among
other things, establishing an African-driven development
agenda.
The theme of the conference is "Defining Priorities
for Regional Integration". The third forum focuses
on regional economic integration in Africa in the context
of the commitment of African heads of State to found
the African Union. South Africa will launch the first
Summit of the African Union in July this year.
The programme of the Deputy President in Ethiopia includes
the following: -
Thursday, 7 March
* Bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Meles Zenawi
of Ethiopia.
* A meeting with African Ambassadors based in Addis
Ababa to brief them on a range of political issues as
well as the New Partnership for Africa's Development
(NEPAD).
Friday, 8 March
* The Deputy President will address the plenary of
the ADF and is scheduled to fly back to South Africa
on Friday evening.
