Cabinet Appointment of Three Deputy Directors-General in the Department of Foreign Affairs

The Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday 4 December approved the appointment of Mr. Ndumiso Ntshinga; Dr. Anil Sooklal and Mkhuseli Apleni as Deputy Directors-General in the Department of Foreign Affairs. Their responsibilities take effect from 1 January 2003.

The three will assume leadership of the Europe and America branch; Middle East and Asia; and Corporate Services respectively. Both Mr. Ntshinga and Dr. Sooklal had been Acting Deputy Directors-General for over a year. Mr. Apleni has been the Chief Financial Officer since 2000.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, on behalf of the government and the leadership of the Department of Foreign Affairs extends her congratulations to Messrs Ntshinga, Apleni and Dr. Sooklal on their appointment and expresses her confidence in their ability to assist the department in meeting its obligations and foreign policy priorities.
