Deputy Minister Aziz Pahad to Render Voluntary Services to the Gauteng Emergency Services and Natalspruit Hospital, Tuesday 30 April 2002

Re: NATIONAL HEALTH FOCUS MONTH

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Aziz Pahad will render voluntary services at the East Rand Emergency Call Centre in Alberton, Swartkoppies Road and the casualty section of the Natalspruit Hospital on Tuesday 30 April from 10h00.

The visit takes place in the context of the call by President Thabo Mbeki to engender a spirit of volunteerism (Letsema/Ilima) in our communities and the national focus on health issues during the month of April.

In this context, Deputy Minister Pahad will be joined by a team of medical doctors from the East Rand under the leadership of Dr. Margaret Mojapelo. The Deputy Minister will first assist with receiving calls at the Gauteng Emergency Services (Call centre) Alberton, ambulance services and the casualty ward of Natalspruit Hospital.

Dr. Mojapelo and her team of doctors hope to render these services on a monthly basis to the East Rand community for the duration of the year as part of their contribution to Letsema/Ilima volunteer programme.
