Humanitarian Aid Arrives in Israel

The humanitarian flight carrying aid from the Gift of Givers to the Palestinian people arrived at the Ovda Military Airport, South of Israel, today Monday 22 July 2002.

The Ilyyushin 76 aircraft left Johannesburg International Airport on Sunday 21 July after being seen off by Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Aziz Pahad and Dr Sooliman of the Gift of Givers.

According to Israeli cargo handlers, Avi-Ram Cargo, the 70 pallets of cargo will take several hours to unload from the aircraft to trucks. The trucks will then be driven to the Eilat port for customs and security checking and Ashdod on Tuesday 23 July before they are handed over to the Palestinian Authority.
