Humanitarian Aid Arrives in Palestine

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms the first delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian National Authority on Wednesday 24 July 2002. The second delivery is expected on Thursday 25 July.

The aid was organised by the Gift of Givers Foundation led by Dr. Imtiaz Sooliman.The humanitarian aid which consists of medical equipment, food, water purification tablets, bottled water, medicines, candles and soap left South Africa on Sunday 21 July and arrived in the south of Israel on Monday 22 July.

The humanitarian aid was then transferred from the aircraft and transported by road to Eilat for security checking and customs clearance before being sent to Ashdod for transshipment to Ramallah. So far three trucks consisting of medical equipment and food has reached the Palestinian National Authority and it is expected that the other trucks containing water purification tablets, bottled water, medicines, candles and soap will be delivered to the Palestinian National Authority by Thursday 25 July.
