South African Embassy Hosts "Faranani! - Togetherness / Samehorigheid" Concert at the Royal Carre Theatre, Amsterdam, 7 June 2002

The South African Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands, will host a concert, "Faranani!" on the evening of 7 June 2002 at the Royal Carre Theatre, Amsterdam at which the former President Nelson Mandela will be the guest of honour.

"Faranani!" meaning "togetherness" in the Venda language will promote peace, reconciliation and unity while commemorating the relationship between South Africa and the Netherlands which began 350 years ago.

The theme of "togetherness" will be manifested in the diversity of artists from South Africa and the Netherlands. Sibongile Khumalo, Stef Bos, Abaqondisi Brothers, Jakkie Job, Denise Jannah are a few of the artists who will perform.

The concert, to be attended by the Crown Prince and Princess Maxima and Princess Magriet, will be broadcast live by NOS Television, the Dutch Channel 2.

In addition the Prime Minister, Mr Wim Kok, a number of Dutch Cabinet Ministers, as well as prominent members of the Netherlands society will also attend.
