Burundi Negotiations Resume

Deputy President Jacob Zuma will tomorrow, Tuesday 19 August, begin facilitating discussions between Burundian ceasefire agreement signatories to advance the implementation of the December ceasefire accord.

Talks will resume between delegations led by President Domitien Ndayizeye of the Burundi Transitional Government and Mr Pierre Nkurunziza, leader of the CNDD-FDD movement.

Among issues to be discussed is power sharing as well as the transformation of the Burundian military.

The talks will be held outside Gauteng and are currently scheduled to take
two days.
