Statement on the Final Plenary Session
of the Inter-Congolese Dialogue
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini
Zuma today - Sunday, 30 March 2003 - announced that
the Heads of State of South Africa, Angola, Mozambique,
Namibia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe
are expected to attend the Closing Ceremony of the Inter-Congolese
Dialogue (ICD) on Wednesday, 2 April 2003 at Sun City,
South Africa.
The signing Ceremony on Wednesday will be preceded
by the Final Plenary session of the Inter-Congolese
Dialogue, chaired by the former President of Botswana
and Facilitator, Sir Ketumile Masire from Monday, 31
March to Wednesday, 2 April 2003
Delegates from all parties - civil society, religious
leaders, under-represented groups, the unarmed political
opposition, representatives from the DRC Government,
the MLC, the RCD-Goma, the RCD-ML, the RCD-N and the
Mayi-Mayi are expected to arrive in South Africa between
30 and 31 March 2003.
Sir Ketumile Masire will open the Final Plenary Session
on Tuesday, 1 April, which is expected to endorse the
Global and Inclusive Agreement on the Transition in
the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and to ratify
the Transitional Constitution.
