Statement on Minister Dlamini Zuma's
Visit to Germany
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma
departs South Africa today, Tuesday 22 April for Berlin
Germany where she is expected to address the Annual
South Africa-German Women in Dialogue Conference on
Thursday 24 April 2003.
The Conference, organised by the South African mission
in Germany, is aimed at building upon the excellent
bilateral political, economic and cultural relations
between South Africa and Germany whilst strengthening
the bonds of friendship and ties between women of the
two countries.
The Conference organised under the theme "Development
through Women" is expected to address the role
of women in development as well as progress and challenges
facing women in the areas of gender equality in the
two countries.
A range of organisations from the German civil society
including federal and provincial parliamentarians, trade
unions, political parties, government, NGO's and high
profile German women are expected to attend the Conference.
The Berlin Conference on Thursday 24 April will lay
a basis for the Second SA-German Women Dialogue Conference
scheduled for Pretoria, South Africa on 7 August 2003.
