President Thabo Mbeki Appoints Judges
In terms of section 174(6) of the Constitution the
President must appoint judges of all other courts on
the advice of the Judicial Service Commission. According
to the advice of the Commission, President Mbeki appointed
the following judges:
Ms R. Allie for the Cape Provincial Division, Advocate
C. J. Olivier and Mr L. P. Tlaletsi for Northern Cape
Provincial Division, Advocate K. G. B. Swain SC for
Natal Provincial Division, Mr C. T. Sangoni for the
Bisho High Court, Advocate R. D. Hendricks for the Mmabatho
High Court, Ms S. W. Abro and Ms S. Moodley for the
Electoral Court and no recommendation was made for the
Transvaal Provincial Division.
