South African Government Welcomes Libya's
Decision to Denounce its Weapons of Mass Destruction
Programme
The South African government welcomes the reported
decision by Libya to dismantle its weapons of mass destruction
programme and to allow unconditional access for inspections.
This move will further create the conditions for Africa
to achieve its vision of having a continent free of
weapons of mass destruction which is in line with policies
of the African Union.
At the same time we reiterate, and support the call
by the United Nations, that sanctions against Libya
be removed by the international community.
