Statement Following an Explosion in Nigeria

The South African Government has noted the explosion in Lagos, Nigeria, on Sunday, 2 February 2003, which left many dead and others trapped.

The Government extends its sympathies to the Nigerian Government and the families of those who have lost their lives or have been injured in the explosion.

South Africa stands ready to assist should the need arise.
