Minister Dlamini Zuma to Address Ministerial
Conference of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference
(OIC) on 28 - 31 May, 2003 in Tehran, Iran
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma
will depart South Africa, today, Monday 26 May 2003
for Iran where she was invited to address the 30th Session
of the Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers, scheduled
for 28-31 May 2003 in Iran, in her capacity as Chairperson
of AU Executive Council of Ministers.
The Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers is expected
to address among others the current Iraqi situation
and the Quartet Road Map as a possible means to bring
about an end to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
This would be the second time Minister Dlamini Zuma
officially attends the Islamic Conference of Ministers
as part of efforts to consolidate and strengthen relations
between Africa and the Islamic World. In the year 2002,
Minister Dlamini Zuma attended the Islamic Conference,
where she delivered a message of support from President
Thabo Mbeki.
Senior officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs
will accompany Minister Dlamini Zuma.
