Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aziz Pahad to Lead South African Delegation to SADC Review Committee Meeting, Gaborone, Botswana Saturday, 16th August 2003

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aziz Pahad will lead the South African delegation to the SADC Review Committee Meeting in Gaborone, Botswana on Saturday, 16th August 2003.

At the meeting Ministers will consider progress made on the restructuring of SADC Institutions and prepare a report that will be submitted to the SADC Council of Ministers and Summit in Tanzania in August 2003.

Issues under consideration include the new SADC organisational structure, the operationalisation of the SADC Integrated Committee of Ministers, the renewal of contracts of SADC Secretariat staff, the SADC Multi-Donor Hub Project and the Regional Tourism Organisation of Southern Africa (RETOSA) Business Plan.

In addition, the role of tripartism in the new SADC structure, ie. where government, employers and workers meet and deliberate on issues of mutual interest in the development of SADC will be focused on.
