Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will represent the Government of South Africa at the memorial service for the late Foreign Minister of Sweden, Anna Lindh on Friday, 19th September 2003 in Stockholm, Sweden.

Minister Dlamini Zuma reiterated that the death of Anna Lindh was indeed a great loss for the people of Sweden and the world. "Those of us who had interacted with her on many occasions at both the multilateral and bilateral levels can most certainly testify to the gift and finesse of diplomacy she possessed and was indeed pleasurable person to know and work with," said the Minister.

"Anna Lindh personally contributed much to the quest for international peace and security and we can say without fear of contradiction that she was a great friend of the people of South Africa. In this regard, we remember with great fondness her contribution, as part of the Swedish youth movement to help bring about the dawn of democracy, peace and justice in South Africa.

"Anna Lindh continued to support the cause of the people of Africa in the endeavour to bring about sustainable development through NEPAD and the AU.

"The greatest tribute that we can pay to Anna is to intensify our efforts to fulfil her vision to create a better and safer world in which we can all live in peace and harmony without fear of another human being," concluded Minister Dlamini Zuma.
