President Mbeki Sends Condolences to Baroness Margaret Thatcher

President Thabo Mbeki today, Thursday June 25, sent a letter of condolence to Baroness Margaret Thatcher, former British Prime Minister, following the death of her husband, Sir Denis Thatcher.

This morning, the President expressed his deepest sympathies to the Baroness in a telephone conversation with Mark Thatcher, son of the Baroness.

"We remember fondly the last time we met, when you and Mark kindly visited us at our official residence in Pretoria. This heightens our sense of empathy with you at this moment of grief at the loss of your life-long partner", said President Mbeki in the letter.
