South African Government Offers Condolences
to Zambian Government Following Ferry Accident
The South African Government expresses its heartfelt
condolences to the Government and people of Zambia following
the ferry accident resulting in the deaths of at least
eighteen people and injury to countless others.
Following consultation between representatives of the
South African High Commission in Zambia and Zambian
authorities, it has been ascertained that at this stage
no South Africans were befallen by the tragedy. The
Mission will however continue to liase with the authorities.
Police divers from Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe
continue to search for bodies at the scene of the accident.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those
who have lost their loved ones in this tragedy.
