Condolences Offered to Zimbabwe Following Death of Vice President Simon Muzenda

President Thabo Mbeki, today, Monday, 22nd September 2003, conveyed the condolences of the South African government to President Robert Mugabe following the death of Zimbabwe's Vice President, Simon Muzenda who passed away after a long illness.

In this regard, President Mbeki said, "on behalf of the Government and people of South Africa, I wish to extend our heartfelt condolences following the death of Vice President Simon Muzenda at the Parirenyatwa Hospital on Saturday the 20th September."

"Our thoughts and prayers during this difficult moment, are with the Government and people of Zimbabwe, and in particular with the family of the late Vice President "
