Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma to Pay
Official Visit to Mali and Senegal Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana
Dlamini Zuma will today - Wednesday, 3 November 2004 - depart for Mali and Senegal
following an official visit to Ghana during which she held bilateral political
and economic discussions with her counterpart, Ghanaian Foreign Minister Nana
Akufo Addo and paid a courtesy call on President John Kufuor. Bamako, Mali
(Wednesday, 3 November 2004) Minister Dlamini Zuma will hold bilateral political
and economic discussions with her Malian counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs
and International Co-operation Moctar Ouane in Bamako today, Wednesday, 3 November
2004. Minister Dlamini Zuma is also expected to pay a courtesy call on Malian
President General Amadou Toumani Toure and Prime Minister Ousmane Issoufi Maiga
before departing for Dakar, Senegal. Dakar, Senegal (Wednesday, 3 - Friday,
5 November 2004) On Thursday, 4 November 2004, Minister Dlamini Zuma will
have bilateral political and economic discussions with her Senegalese counterpart,
Foreign Minister Dr Cheikh Tidiane Gadio following which an Agreement on the Establishment
of a Joint Commission for Bilateral Co-operation will be signed by both Foreign
Ministers. Issues on the agenda of bilateral discussions will include, among
others: - Bilateral political and economic relations;
- Operationalisation
of the African Union and its institutions including the Pan-African Parliament
which was officially inaugurated in its permanent home on 16 September 2004, the
Peace and Security Council, the African Court of Justice;
- The implementation
of NEPAD as the socio-economic programme of the African Continent;
- Peace,
security and stability efforts on the African continent, viz in Burundi, the Democratic
Republic of Congo, Sudan, Ivory Coast, and others;
- The Middle East Peace
Process and developments in Iraq
- The global fight against terrorism;
and
- The reform of institutions of global governance, viz, the United Nations
and all its institutions including the Security Council, the International Monetary
Fund and the World Bank.
While in Senegal, Minister Dlamini Zuma is
also expected to pay a courtesy call on President Abdoulaye Wade and the Prime
Minister Macky Sall. Bilateral Economic Relations South African
