Minster Sydney Mufumadi to Co-host South
Africa-DRC Joint Ministerial Meeting, Burgers Park Hotel,
Pretoria Thursday, 18 March 2004

Mufamadi will host a Ministerial delegation, headed
by Minister of Planning, Alexis Tambwe Mwamba from the
Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in Pretoria on Thursday,
18 March 2004.
Minister Mwamba will be accompanied by: Ministers of
Regional Co-operation, Mbusa Namwisi; Economy, Celestin
Vunabandi; Public Administration, Gustave Tabezi, Public
Works and Infrastructure, Josè Endundo; Deputy
Ministers of Finance, Denis Kashoba; Transport, Elias
Mulungula; and Governor of the Central Bank, Jean-Claude
Masangu.
This visit follows the State Visit to the DRC by President
Thabo Mbeki from 13 and 14 January 2004 during which
Presidents Mbeki and Joseph Kabila signed a General
Co-operation Agreement that laid the foundation for
future co-operation between both countries.
This visit will aim primarily to assess progress made
on various areas of co-operation, ranging from finance
and economic co-operation to social and humanitarian
co-operation between the two countries.
Both delegations will seek to finalise negotiations
on the following draft agreements:
· Agreement between the Government of the Republic
of South Africa and the Government of the Democratic
Republic of Congo for the Reciprocal Protection and
Promotion of Investments
· Agreement between the Government of the Republic
of South Africa and the Government of the Democratic
Republic of Congo for the Avoidance of Double Taxation
and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with regard to
Taxes on Income
· Agreement between the Government of the Republic
of South Africa and the Government of the Democratic
Republic of Congo on Health Matters
· Memorandum of Understanding on Co-operation
in the Field of Public Administration.
· Protocol for Regular Diplomatic consultations.
