Minister Dlamini Zuma's Statement on the Verdict and Judgement in Equatorial Guinea

The South African Government has noted the judgement and sentence meted out to eight South Africans by the Malabo Court , today Friday 26 November 2004, for their alleged involvement in an attempted coup in Equatorial Guinea.

In line with the South African Constitution and the Geneva Convention, the Government will continue to discharge its mandate to ensure consular services and assistance are provided to the South African prisoners in Malabo as it is customarily done with all South African prisoners abroad.
