Media Statement on Haiti Service
Reverend Frank Chikane has been invited to attend a
special prayer service dedicated to the people of Haiti
to be held in Sebokeng, Koinonia Bible Church, Zone
14 (next to Mphatlhalatsane Hall), Vaal Triangle, on
Sunday 12 December 2004, from 14H00 to16H00.
As the guest speaker, Reverend Chikane, Director General
in The Presidency, Secretary of Cabinet and pastor of
the Apostolic Faith Mission, will deliver the sermon
in the context of the service's express aim of praying
for peace and justice in Haiti, Africa and the Middle
East.
President Jean-Bertrand Aristide of Haiti and also
guest of the South African government will deliver the
keynote address. It is expected that he will reflect
on the current challenges facing Haiti - the first black
republic in the world and the second independent state
in the Americas and the Caribbean.
This prayer meeting, hosted by the Ekklesia Pastoral
Leadership Forum, will mark the closing of the Koinonia
Bible Church's week-long conference. More than a thousand
people are expected to attend.
