Minister Dlamini Zuma Announces South Africa's new Ambassadors and High Commissioners, 24 August 2004

Pretoria- Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma unveiled at the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Tuesday 24 August a list of 18 South African Ambassadors and High Commissioners appointed by President Thabo Mbeki. The Ambassadors and High Commisioners, who have just completed their diplomatic training in Pretoria and are due to leave the country shortly, include:

1. Boy Geldenhuys-Jordan
2. Griffiths Memela-Indonesia
3. Major-General- Leonard Pitso-Vietnam
4. Daniel Meyer-Tunisia
5. Mahlomola Jomo Khasu-Gabon
6. Mzwandile Masala-Zambia
7. Dr. Semeon Ripinga-Cameroon
8. Ntshadi Tsheole-Malawi
9. Mr. M.E. Mabeta-Comoros
10. Ms. Jeanette Ndlhovu-Los Angeles (Consul-General)
11. Dr. Duduzile Khoz-Hungary
12. Ms. Lindiwe Zulu-Brazil
13. Mr. Victor Zazeraj-Chile
14. Mr. Sisa Ncwana-Palestine
15. Mr. Jan Mampane-Sudan
16. Mr. Yusuf Omar-Chicago (Consul-General)
17. Mr. Mdu Lembede-Burundi
18. Ms. Nomasonto Mary Sibanda-Thusi-France

Minister Dlamini Zuma expressed her confidence that the team of women and men selected will represent the interests of the country to the best of their abilities. Minister Dlamini Zuma further expressed confidence that the Department of Foreign Affairs will in due course ensure a greater gender balance in our diplomatic representations abroad in line with our national priorities and the African Union's call for gender parity at all levels.
