South Africa Welcomes the International Court of Justice's Ruling on Israel's Construction of the Wall

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma has welcomed the ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that the construction of the wall in the Palestinian occupied territories by Israel, was contrary to International Law.

Minister Dlamini Zuma was speaking after a meeting with her Tunisian counterpart, Minister Habib Ben Yahia following the fourth session of the Joint Bilateral Commission (JBC) between the two countries, held in Pretoria on Friday, 9 July 2004.

The Minister recalled South Africa's submission to the ICJ on this matter.

Minister Dlamini Zuma said this was an important international multilateral decision and called on Israel to respect and abide by the ruling.
