Minister Dlamini Zuma to hold Bilateral Discussions with her Indonesia Counterpart

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma who arrived in Indonesia, will hold political and economic bilateral discussions with her Indonesian counterpart,Minister Hassen Wirayuda on Friday, 10 December 2004 in Jakarta.

Minister Dlamini Zuma has been visiting the region as part of efforts aimed at expanding the frontiers of trade, investment and tourism in the Middle East and Asia Region.

In this regard, Minister Dlamini Zuma has held bilateral discussions with her Omani and Kuwaiti counterparts as part of efforts aimed at consolidating and strengthening political, economic and trade relations between South Africa and the Middle East and Asia.

Minister Dlamini Zuma's visit to Indonesia also comes in the wake of preparations for the forthcoming Asia-Africa Summit (marking the 50th Anniversary of the 1954 Bandung Conference) scheduled for 21-23 April 2005.

The Bandung Conference was held in 1954 to strengthen and consolidate African - Asian Solidarity against colonialism and apartheid. The late Walter Sisulu, Molvi Cachalia and Moses Kotane represented South Africa at the Conference.
