Minister Dlamini Zuma to Lead Discussions
on Peace and Security Issues at NEPAD Multi Stakeholders

Dlamini Zuma is expected to lead discussions on Peace
and Security issues on the African continent during
the NEPAD Multi- Stakeholder Dialogue, on Friday 22
October 2004 at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg.
Minister Dlamini Zuma, who returns to South Africa
on Friday 22 October from The Hague where she led the
South African delegation to the SADC-EU meeting, was
the Chairperson of the African Peace and Security Council
for the month of July and is the current Ministerial
Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Defence, Security and
Politics.
President Thabo Mbeki will lead the South African delegation.
The NEPAD Stakeholder Dialogue will be attended by
Presidents Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Abdoulaye Wade, Joaquim
Chissano and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission,
Prof. Alpha Konare and chaired by President Olusegun
Obasanjo.
The Dialogue hopes to take stock of achievements made
through the NEPAD programme during the past 3 years
through:
o Reporting back on the activities of the different
priority sectors of NEPAD, including current status
of projects
o Reporting back on the interaction with REC's with
respect to the implementation of NEPAD
o Outlining planned activities for all NEPAD priority
areas
o Launching the NEPAD annual report
o Discussing with stakeholders and exploring mechanisms
for accelerating the implementation of NEPAD and increasing
ownership by countries.
