President Thabo Mbeki Conveys Condolences to Queen Beatrix Wilhelmina Armgard of Netherlands following Death of Queen Mother

President Thabo Mbeki today, Saturday, 20 March 2004 conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the government and people of South Africa to Queen Beatrix Wilhelmina Armgard of Netherlands following the death of the Queen Mother, Juliana Louise Emma Marie Wilhelmina on Saturday, 20 March 2004 in the Netherlands.

President Mbeki said, "Your Majesty it is with great sadness that we have received the news of the passing away of Her Majesty, Queen Juliana Louise Emma Marie Wilhelmina, the Queen Mother on Saturday, 20 March 2004."

"Please accept, Your Majesty, our sincere condolences on behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of South Africa and be assured of our prayers at this time of great sorrow."

"The Queen Mother will be fondly remembered for the diligent manner in which she carried out her Royal duties, and her active role in social issues regarding the sick, aged, and young."

"May you and the members of the Royal Family as well as the people of the Kingdom of the Royal Netherlands receive solace during this time of grief," concluded President Mbeki.
