Deputy President Jacob Zuma Arrives
in Romania, 14 September 2004
Deputy President Jacob Zuma this evening, 14 September
2004, arrived in Bucharest in the Republic of Romania
for an official visit.
This is the second leg of the Deputy President's Central
Europe official visit after his visit to the Republic
of Poland, which took place on 13-14 September.
The visits are aimed at strengthening political and
economic ties with these two countries as well as with
the Central European region in general.
The Deputy President is accompanied by the Minister
of Science and Technology, Mr Mosibudi Mangena, the
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Aziz Pahad, the
Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms Lindiwe Hendricks
and the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Land Affairs,
Advocate Dirk du Toit.
In Romania Deputy President Zuma will hold bilateral
discussions with Prime Minister Adrian Nastase and pay
a courtesy call on President Ion Iliescu. Deputy President
Zuma will also meet with the President of the Chamber
of Deputies Mr Valer Dorneanu and the President of the
Senate Mr Nicolae Vacaroiu.
Bilateral agreements on Science and Technology and
Trade and Industry are expected to be signed between
the two countries tomorrow.
Deputy President Zuma returns in South Africa on 18
September.
