Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma to Chair Meeting of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Co-operation, Presidential Guesthouse, Pretoria Tuesday, 21 December 2004

Pretoria - Foreign Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will on Tuesday, 21 December 2004 host and chair a meeting of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Co-operation at the Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria.

The Foreign Ministers of Namibia and Lesotho as members of the Troika - Marco Hausiku and Monyane Moleleketi respectively will also attend the meeting.

Minister Dlamini Zuma's delegation will include Minister of Defence, Mosiuoa Lekota, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aziz Pahad and senior officials from the Departments of Foreign Affairs and Defence.
Issues on the agenda of the meeting, will include, among others:

· The operationalisation of the Early Warning Centre;
· The operationalisation of the African Standby Force with particular reference to the SADC Regional Brigade;
· The progress with regard to the Regional Peacekeeping Centre; and
· Preparations for elections in the region.
