President Thabo Mbeki extends Message of Condolence to Deputy Minister Enver Surty following Death of his Father

Union Buildings, Pretoria - President Thabo Mbeki today, Sunday May 16, extended heartfelt condolences to the Deputy Minister of Education, Enver Surty, and his family, following the untimely death of his father.

"We are deeply touched by the passing on of Mr Mohamed Surty (the late father of Deputy Minister Enver Surty) on Saturday, 15 May 2004", said President Mbeki.

The late Mr Surty, who suffered from heart attack passed on peacefully at home surrounded by family and loved ones.

The President further said: "on behalf the Government and the people of the Republic of South Africa, I wish to convey our sincere and deepest condolences to the Deputy Minister's family".

"We all grieve with you during this difficult moment", President Mbeki concluded.
