Minister Dlamini Zuma to Address UK's Oxford University Celebrations of SA's 10th Year of Democracy

WASHINGTON DC -South Africa's Foreign Minister Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma is expected to arrive in London, UK tomorrow, ahead of a scheduled address to students and faculty at Oxford University on Saturday 12 June Oxford is a prestigious institution, and the oldest English-speaking University in the world.

Minister Dlamini Zuma accompanied President Mbeki to the United States to attend the Africa Outreach Leaders' meeting with their G-8 counterparts, intended to sustain momentum in building partnerships aimed at the implementation of NEPAD.

Minister Dlamini Zuma's presentation at the University will focus on South Africa's Foreign Policy. The event on Saturday will afford Minister Dlamini Zuma an opportunity to exchange views with students and academics on the progress made thus far in deepening SA's democracy, and challenges that lie ahead in terms of both domestic and foreign policies.

In 2003, Minister Dlamini Zuma had led a South African delegation to the UK, which included Ministers Sydney Mufamadi, Jeff Radebe, Essop Pahad, Dr. Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, Thoko Didiza and Pumzile Mlambo Ngcuka to a highly successful interaction between the SA government and members and leaders of the former British Anti-Apartheid Movement, including its former Secretary General, Mike Terry to review progress made in the transformation of the South African society in the context of launching events to mark the 10 Anniversary celebrations.

Minister Dlamini Zuma will attend other 10th Anniversary celebrations organized by the South African High Commissioner to the UK, Ms. Lindiwe Mabuza scheduled for Sunday 13 June 2004, before departing for France.
