the United Nations's High-Level Panel on Threats, Challenges
and Change
The South African Government joins the international
community in welcoming the release on Thursday 2 December
2004 of the report of the UN Secretary-General Kofi
Annan's High Level Panel on Threats, Challenges and
Change, titled "A More Secure World: Our Shared
Responsibility".
In this regard, the South African Government congratulates
and extends its gratitude to the UN Secretary-General,
Kofi Annan, the Chairperson of the High Level Panel,
Anand Panyarachun and distinguished Members of the High
Level of the Panel for the sterling work done in producing
the report for the Members-States' consideration.
South Africa is greatly humbled by the acknowledgement
in the Report, of the contribution it made, among others,
to help facilitate the work of the High Level Panel.
The South African Government will indeed study the
purport of the Report and respond accordingly in due
course and through mechanisms that the UN may identify.
