MR LK JOUBERT (IFP) TO ASK THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS:

1. What progress has been made towards resolving the political situation in Haiti;
2. How long is the formed President of Haiti expected to stay in South Africa as guests of the Government and;
3. (i) What is the total monthly cost of hosting the Aristide family in South Africa;
(ii) What are the benefits for South Africa of hosting the former President of Haiti? N1531E

REPLY:

1. Not much.
2. As long as it is necessary
3 i. Difficult to calculate.
ii. CARICOM requested South Africa to host President Aristide through the African Union and we responded to CARICOM's request to host President Aristide.
