PUBLISHED IN INTERNAL QUESTION PAPER NO 37 OF 2004: 19 NOVEMBER 2004

MR LB LABUSCHAGNE (DA) TO ASK THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS:

(1) Whether the South African High Commissioner in Harare and the various departments represented at the High Commission have reported on internal developments in Zimbabwe on a continual basis; if not, why not;
(2) Whether any of these reports included matters that were dealt with in the Amnesty International Report; if so,
(3) Whether these reports differ from the conclusions reached by Amnesty International; if so, how do they differ;
(4) Whether the High Commissioner has reported on land invasions affecting South African citizens in Zimbabwe;
(5) Whether any South African citizens have lost farms or other property by land invasions; if so, (a) what steps have been taken to protect their interests and (b) how successful have these steps been? N1624E
