MS R TALJAARD (DA) TO ASK THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS:

(1) Whether the Government has (a) incurred any expenses and/or (b) undertaken any expenditure in accordance with the provisions of the Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (Act No 1 of 1999), and the 2004-2005 Budget Appropriation for the exile of former Haitian president, Mr Bertrand Aristide; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;

(2) Whether she will make a statement on the matter? N473E


REPLY:

(1) Having taken a decision to host President Aristide, the South African Government has used resources and facilities largely and already at its disposal. It is therefore not easy to provide an accurate costing of these inputs.
