PUBLISHED IN THE INTERNAL QUESTION PAPER NO 5 OF 18 JUNE 2004

Yes, the Government intends to take action in respect of South Africa's citizens owning businesses in Zimbabwe in general and landowners in particular. The action which the Government intends to take in this regard is to include issues of this nature on the agenda of the current discussions between the two Governments. Such a discussion will take place within the context of the BIPPA agreement. Again this issue will be amongst the issues to be discussed by our Ambassador in Zimbabwe with the Zimbabwean Minister of Lands, Land Reform and Resettlement. It should also be noted that this is an issue which has recently arisen and needs further explanation by the Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
