Minister Dlamini Zuma Concludes Visit to Bahamas Ahead of her
Scheduled Visit to Cuba Freeport-South African Minister of Foreign Affairs,
Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma on Monday 26 September concluded her bilateral visit
to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas by signing a Joint Declaration with her counterpart,
Foreign Minister Fred Mitchell. Minister Dlamini Zuma led a senior South
African government officials delegation to the Bahamas for the launch of the Joint
South Africa-Bahamas Bilateral Commission aimed at consolidating and strengthening
bilateral political, economic, trade and cultural relations between the two countries. Joint
Declaration In a joint declaration signed and released following the
bilateral discussions both Ministers Dlamini Zuma and Fred Mitchell "expressed
satisfaction with the friendly and cordial relations that exist between the two
countries. The two ministers further noted that the joint bilateral commission
had met pursuant to the Bilateral Agreement signed between themselves in Pretoria
in 2004. The bilateral meeting between the two ministers was preceded by
working meetings at expert level comprising the sectors of agriculture, arts and
culture, education, foreign affairs and health. " At the opening ceremony
of the bilateral commission, the two ministers pointed out the close links of
friendship and solidarity that unite the governments and people of the two countries.
They further stressed the need for practical implementation of joint programmes
in a wide variety of areas including agriculture, arts and culture, education,
foreign relations and health" said the joint declaration. VISIT
TO CUBA In Cuba, Minister Dlamini Zuma will lead the senior South African
government officials delegation, including Foreign Affairs Deputy Director-General,
Ndumiso Ntshinga, political advisor Tiny Maya, Ambassadors Mbulelo Rakwena and
Thanduyise Chiliza in co-chairing the joint South Africa-Cuba bilateral commission. Issued
