Minister Dlamini Zuma to host her Botswana Counterpart Minister

Zuma will on Thursday, 13 October 2005 co-chair, together with her counterpart
from Botswana Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, Mompati
Merafhe, the 2nd Session of the SA-Botswana Joint Permanent Commission for Co-operation
(JPCC) at the Presidential Guesthouse in Tshwane. The Ministerial consultations
come within the context of South Africa's stated commitment to strengthening bilateral
political and economic relations with all countries of the SADC region. Minister
Merafhe's visit also comes ahead of and is part of preparations for the scheduled
state visit to South Africa by Botswana's President Festus Mogae on 24-27 October
2005.
On the margins of the Joint Permanent Commission meeting, the two Ministers
will also hold a tête-à-tête to discuss among others: - An
overview of bilateral political and economic relations between both countries;
- Developments within the SADC region and the African continent;
- Joint
co-operation projects between the two countries
- And the outcomes of the
60th Session UN General Assembly and the Millennium Review Summit.
Minister's
Dlamini Zuma and Merafhe are also expected to finalise preparations for the signing
of five bilateral agreements on agriculture, health, local government, sports
and transport ahead of the state visit of President Mogae to SA. Bilateral
