Deputy Minister Pahad to hold Bilateral Consultations with Bulgarian Counterpart, Petko Draganov, Cape Town, South Africa

Pretoria - South African Deputy Foreign Minister Aziz Pahad will hold bilateral political and economic discussions with his Bulgarian counterpart Deputy Minister Petko Draganov in 120 Plein Street, Cape Town on Thursday, 26 May 2005.

Issues on the agenda are expected to include, among others:

  • The status of bilateral political and economic relations between both countries;
  • A briefing by Deputy Minister Draganov on Bulgarian foreign policy priorities with particular reference to NATO and the European Union;
  • Recent developments in South Eastern Europe
  • A briefing by Deputy Minister Pahad on South African foreign policy priorities, engagement within the African Union and conflict resolution and prevention in Africa;
  • Developments in the Middle East with particular reference to the conference on the Middle East attended by Deputy Minister Pahad on 23-24 May in Israel and Palestine respectively; and
  • Global reform of governance including the United Nations and all its institutions.

South African Investments in Bulgaria

For the year of 2004 South African investments in Bulgaria amounted to US$ 45 000.
