Deputy President Jacob Zuma to Visit Burundi

Deputy President Jacob Zuma is to travel to Burundi on Tuesday, 25 January to meet with political parties and other key stakeholders.

The visit follows the meeting the Deputy President had in Uganda on Monday 17 January with President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, who is the chairperson of the Great Lakes Regional Initiative on Burundi, and President Benjamin Mkapa of Tanzania, the Deputy Chairperson of the Initiative.

The meetings are expected to focus on the pending elections, the interim Constitution and other issues that will lead to the ushering in of democracy, peace and stability in Burundi.
